Ed Sheeran Fan Jailed For Playing 'Shape Of You' On Loop For 30 Minutes

NEW DELHI:  A British woman has been arrested for blasting English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran's hit song "Shape of You" on repeat for a full 30 minutes. Sonia Bryce played the pop song on loop at an extremely high volume, annoying her neighbours and causing what a judge called a "wholly unacceptable level of disturbance." Ms Bryce has been sentenced to eight weeks in jail.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Ms Bryce denied the allegations levelled against her. "I don't even like Ed Sheeran," she said in court. However, the judge hearing the case rejected her claims.

"You must learn that you should behave as a reasonable and responsible adult and not make life for your neighbours the misery that you have," Judge Philip Gregory told Ms Bryce.

"Everyone is entitled to live in a degree of peace and quiet with the usual give and take of society," he added. "But you do not behave like a civilised person and you have got to learn that you will."

The Ed Sheeran fan was previously jailed for six weeks for similar behaviour. According to the Sun, Ms Bryce's landlords had obtained a court order against her, stopping her from creating a "nuisance" or "annoyance." She violated that order at least 10 times, usually by playing loud music, and was sent to jail. She had just returned home in February.

Ms Bryce's next door neighbour Clare Tidmarsh filed the complaint that sent her to jail this time. She said it was the "straw that broke the camel's back."

"I used to like Ed Sheeran but I've taken him off my playlist. It drove us crazy," said Ms Tidmarsh.
