200% Hike In President’s Salary. Here’s How Much Ram Nath Kovind Will Earn Per Month

After much speculation and anticipation former Bihar governor and NDA nominee Ram Nath Kovind was declared as the 14th president of India. UPA presidential candidate Meira Kumar lost by 334730 value votes in the polls.
According to the reports, Kovind received the highest votes from cross voting at UP, Goa, and Rajasthan. As Pranab Mukherjee’s term ended on 24 July, all the eyes are on him. He took oath as 14 president of India on 25 July.
71 year old Kovind was born and brought up in Kanpur. He graduated in law from the Kanpur University. Ram Nath Kovind has served as the central government advocate or 2 years. His political journey started in 1991 when he joined BJP.
Kovind’s victory as the president will BJP in fighting against corruption. Very few people know that Kovind is the second dalit who has held this honorary position. First was KR Narayanan.

200% hike in Mr. Kovind’s salary

The former president Pranab Mukherjee used to receive Rs 1.5 lakh per month. But as Kovind took over the position there is a 200% rise in his salary. The seventh pay commission has approved the proposal to increase his salary.
The proposal came after the government realized that president gets less salary than a cabinet secretary. Earlier the president drew 1.5 lakhs per month. Now Kovind will receive Rs 5 lakhs per month.
Last time increase in president’s salary was done in 2008. It was increased from Rs 50,000 to 1.5 lakhs. 71-year-old Kovind who was born in a very poor family will be shifting to the magnificent Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Magnificient Rashtrapati Bhawan was originally built by the Britishers for the viceroy. However, after the independence, it was renamed as Rashtrapati Bhawan. It has 340 rooms, including 63 bedrooms and 63 living rooms.
